The small cellular clouds just above the pizzeria remind me of an inkblot test that a turn of the century psychologist would administer.

There is not much in the way of form to imaginatively describe. Though, I can say that these clouds have a beautiful blue tint on them. As they were captured around sunset, there is also a bright orange burst below the cloud line. The blue was very calming, and in high contrast to the bright orange which energized me. Overall, these clouds brought me both emotions simultaneously.

Conclusion: Due to these reasons aligning with the National Weather Service description, I believe these to be Stratus clouds .
There has been a lot of rain the past couple days here on Clouds of New York , and I have run out of way to conceptualize gray stratus clouds - LOL. Please excuse our lack of imagination today.

Apart from the gray blanket the clouds bring to mind, the raindrops on the window in the image above seemed like they were in a race to get down the window first.

Appearance: This image was captured from the terminal 4 parking lot at JFK while the author was picking up a family member at the airport (see the Dublin, Ireland submission below on September 27th.) These clouds appear to be the same type as yesterday in form, and had the same steady rainfall throughout the day.
Conclusion: Due to these observations aligning with the National Weather Service description, I believe these to be Nimbostratus clouds. .
There is not much to say other than these clouds created a rainfall that left a memorable chill in the bones.

Conclusion: Due to these observations aligning with the National Weather Service description, I believe these to be Nimbostratus clouds .
There is not much to work with in terms of form. However, I can communicate that these clouds reminded me of wet laundry due to the heavy feeling in the air they produced.

The sun peaking through in the image looks like a pinhole in a bag, letting in light. It makes me feel like an insect that a child captured and is bringing to a secondary location.

Location/Time: Nassau County, New York at 2:24p EST.
Appearance: When I woke this morning there was no clouds in the sky. I planned to report on clear skies, but as I sat down to write this post I looked out and noticed some new activity. Then, in the middle of this sentence, the strong wind blew a new massive cloud across my field of vision. The dark underbelly of the clouded images coupled with the strong wind makes me think three might be a storm coming. The clouds had huge vertical development and towered over everything.
Conclusion: Due to these observations aligning with the National Weather Service description, I believe these to be Cumulus Congestus .
The slope on the second image looks like a mountain range on the horizon.

Location/Time: Nassau County, New York at 8:06am & 6:43p EST.
Appearance: We have a treat today - both a sunrise and a sunset picture from September 25! I love the colors on the sunset picture so much! Anyway, back to the clouds. They appear to have a high altitude, have a beautiful halo formed around the edges, and have a widespread, veil-like layer.
Conclusion: To be honest, I am having a hard time classifying these. I think the defining characteristic that led me to the current classification is the beautiful halo on their edges. Due to this observation aligning to the description from the National Weather Service I believe these to be Cirrostratus Clouds , but I am open to other interpretations on this one.
The beautiful color pallete on the sunset image reminds me of a watercolor painting in the way the gradient flows together so smoothly.

Location/Time: Nassau County, New York at 12:50p EST.
Appearance: These are some clouds we havent seen yet on Clouds of New York ! (It's weird how excited I was to see these today - this blog is taking up more mental real estate the longer I do it LOL) These were layered, horizontal clouds that appeared to be high up in the atmosphere. They have some cumuliform lumps that aligned in "streets".
Conclusion: Due to these observations aligning to the description from the National Weather Service I believe these to be Cirrocumulus Clouds . Fun Fact, the "street lumps" mentioned in the Appearance section are actually a sign that there are localized areas of ascent (cloud axes) and descent (cloud-free channels).
These lumps make me think the clouds decided to spice up their wardrobe with some patterned clothing today! à la mode!

These clouds were a gloomy blanket over the skies today. There is not much structure to lend itself to imaginative interpretation other than this!

Location/Time: Queens, New York at 1:07p-4:54p EST.
Appearance: There was beautiful weather and clouds over Queens College today, I couldnt help snapping a ton of pics! This was a tricky distinction today, as I had a hard time deciding whether to classify these as Cumulus Clouds, or Cumulus Congestus Clouds. They apear to have vertical development and have a cellular appearance. They had flat bottoms and rounded tops. There was clear sunny weather all day.
Conclusion: Due to the fact that Cumulus Congestus clouds can be precursors to thunderstorms (if there is enough atmospheric instability) according to the description from the National Weather Service, coupled with the sunny weather of the day, I will stick with the classification of Cumulus Clouds for the day.
I see a gingerbread man waving at us in one of the formations!

Appearance: We had some interesting weather today over Nassau County. The day started with a sunny sky, which transformed into sun showers in the late afternoon. You can note the beginning of a rainbow in the second image as a fun addition to today's submission. This data point will focus on the later. These appear to be a combination of individual cloud elements, and have a continuous distribution. They also seem to have thick and thin areas. These clouds appeared both ahead and behind of the sunshowers in the late afternoon.
Conclusion: Due to these reasons aligning with the description from the National Weather Service, I believe these to be Stratocumulus Clouds .
Whenever I see rainbows, the first association my brain makes is always of Leprechauns hiding their gold at the end of the tail.

To me these clouds' textures resembled ripped up cotton balls. The cloud formation second to the bottom looked like the titular character from Popeye the Sailor Man to me.
A second opinion from an unnamed source points to the Pokemon character, Torkoal .

These clouds offered little in the way of form, however they do remind me of an episode of Scooby Doo , where Scooby cuts a hole in a fog with a knife and eats it like a donut. I wish I could abide by cartoon physics looking at these today.
